Win up to 20 metres of gorgeous, native hedgrerow

Decades of intensive farming have
devastated many of our indigenous
hedgerows, causing a shortage of food and shelter for small animals, birds, butterflies and bees, and precious habitat for smaller plants. It is important that we try and restore our hedgerows, and each and every metre helps.

The Spark has teamed up with Trees Direct, the original ‘trees as gifts’ mail order company, to offer one reader the chance to win a unique prize: up to 20 metres of traditional hedgerow.

Perfect for planting in the early months of the year, this hedgerow (typically Hawthorn,
Hazel, Beech, Hornbeam, Blackthorn, Viburnum and Dog Rose) would be a great, natural addition to your garden, allotment, school garden, community garden or your favourite community project. All Trees Direct’s trees and shrubs have been chosen to give pleasure and help the environment throughout the year: naturally grown outdoors in the UK, your hedging plants will be sent out using recycled materials, bare rooted (ready to plant) with full planting instructions.

For a chance to win this incredible prize, tell us – in no more than 30 words – how having a hedgerow would benefi t you/your group. Entries (postcards only please) with your address AND phone number to Trees Direct Comp, The Spark, 86 Colston St, Bristol BS1 5BB. All entries must be received by January 19. You can also enter online here
