Changes Start with... THE SPARK "at the heart of the alternative west country"

Coming to Komedia in Bath on November 1, Magazine are feted as one of the most influential groups of the new wave era. Formed by Howard Devoto after leaving the iconic Buzzcocks in 1977, in four short years they released a series of classic singles and four ground-breaking albums: if you don’t believe me listen Radiohead’s brilliant Just, which borrows heavily from Magazine’s breakout single Shot By Both Sides (which itself is indebted to the Buzzcocks track Lipstick).

Magazine originally split in 1981 before reforming to sensational reviews in 2009: although original guitarist John McGeoch, who later went on to play with Siouxsie and the Banshees, Visage and Public Image Ltd, died in 2004 today the band still features three members of their classic line up – Devoto, drummer John Doyle and keyboard player Dave Formula. Fans lucky enough to see them on their sell out reunion tour also got to original bassist Barry Adamson, replaced on this tour owing to other commitments by Stan White.

Promoting No Thyself, their first album of new material in 30 years, this is sure to be one of the best gigs in Bath this year.
